Government backs business part and leisure facilities plans
07.02.07
Plans for a business park and leisure facilities at Durham Tees Valley Airport have been given the go-ahead by the government. An airport spokesman said the decision would enable Darlington Council to approve for the plans.
The application includes plans to build a business park, airport hotel, pub and restaurant near the airport. The plans were put before the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Ruth Kelly, and she has decided not to 'call in' the proposals for a review at central Government level.
The plans are the second phase of a scheme to expand and develop the airport. An application to increase the size of the terminal, build additional aircraft stands, a new taxiway and apron and cargo facilities was recently approved by Darlington and Stockton councils.
