New hotel planned by airport owner
09.09.08
Peel Holdings, the company that owns Durham Tees Valley Airport, has submitted plans to build a 100-bed hotel near the terminal. The £8.5m hotel and car park would be just 300m from the airport building.
Darlington Council, who will consider the proposals claims it has no reason to block any of the airport hotel applications at the moment. There is currently another two hotels proposed near the airport, from Northcare Developments for an 80-bed hotel and CG Robinson for a 130-bed Hilton. Durham Tees Valley Airport previously said rival hotels could threaten its own investment plans, but went ahead with its development anyway.
Peter de la Perrelle, Director of Peel Holdings, said:‘The hotel will represent a quality addition to the airport's facilities. We look forward to being part of the successful development of DTVA in the years to come.’
