Airport cabbies seek legal advice
13.10.08
Taxi drivers are to take legal advice in their dispute with Durham Tees Valley Airport, the Northern Echo reports. The cabbies say their business was given to a rival firm, and they were only told the night before the new arrangement started. 16 independent taxi drivers are affected.
The drivers held a protest at the airport last week, and plan to meet with legal advisors from the GMB union this week to challenge the decision. One told the newspaper: ‘We are taking legal advice and will be meeting with our union solicitor next week. In our contract it says we need 28 days' notice, but they only gave us 7½ hours.'
