Thomson cut flights
23.05.08
Holiday airline Thomson is to cut flights from Durham Tees Valley Airport, as record fuel prices and a weakening economy take their toll on the travel industry. The airport confirmed today that Thomson is reducing the number of weekly flights it operates at Durham Tees Valley from 14 to 6.
Thomson currently operates flights to Alicante, Tenerife, Majorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Reus from the airport. It is unclear which flights it is cutting.
Hugh Lang, group airports director for airport owner Peel Airports, said Thomson’s decision not to operate single aircraft bases at UK airports affected Stansted, Bristol, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool as well as Durham Tees Valley.
