New airline plans London City flights
25.07.09
A new airline plans to resume flights between Durham Tees Valley Airport and London. The airport lost services to London earlier this year when bmi axed its Heathrow route. Excelsis Airways says it will launch 3 flights a day to London City Airport from September.
Excelsis plans to target premium and business passengers and hopes to expand to more UK destinations once it is established. A spokesman said: ‘When we launch later this year, we will offer both the business and leisure community a speedy, comfortable, convenient link from the North East into the heart of the capital .’ The company plans to buy up to four Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, which will be based at Durham Tees Valley.
