Flyglobespan scrap winter Palma flights
27.09.07
Scottish budget airline Flyglobespan has cut back part of its first full winter flights schedule from Durham Tees Valley Airport after a lack of bookings from passengers. However, bosses at the airport and the airline say that the cutback is only a small part of the overall routes.
Flyglobespan, who launched its first flights from Durham Tees Valley in March, operates flights to 10 European destinations, 5 of which are part of its winter programme. However, it has cut its weekly flights to Palma, Majorca over the winter.
The Palma flights were due to operate every Saturday, but will finish on November 17, restarting again in March because Palma has not proved to be a popular winter destination, a spokesman said.
The spokesman added: 'There has been a really poor uptake on [the route]. We have had to cancel it and let customers know in plenty of time.' None of the other 4 winter routes will be affected.
